Aylburton Memorial Hall and Playing Field

Aylburton Cross

About the Hall

The Hall is in the High Street opposite The Cross near the centre of the village. It is suitable for many different events and is widely used by local groups and for private functions.

The Hall has UltraFast Wifi.

Playing Field

A large playing field is situated behind the Hall with changing facilities and showers available.

It has been commended as one of the most picturesque cricket venues in Gloucestershire.

We are currently restoring the 1939-1945 Memorial Gates.

Parking Sign

Parking

Limited parking is available on the Playing Field, subject to rain / surface conditions.

We have recently improved parking by laying down all weather matting.

Kitchen Sign

Kitchen

The Hall will seat 80 people at tables or 110 more informally. There is a small, well equipped kitchen, renovated during lockdown, and now open for hire. We now also have a serving hatch.

This being Aylburton, Licences can be arranged.

Union Flag

Flag

Normally a Union Flag is flown from the Memorial Hall, its position reflecting HM government advice depending on events.

The trustees will consider requests to fly other flags for events if so requested, noting the Memorial Hall tries to be strictly apolitical.

Poppy

Act of Remembrance

The Parish Council and Memorial Hall organise a poppy wreath laying ceremony on the 11 November each year. (Noting the RBL Red Poppy is intended as a symbol of both Remembrance and hope for a peaceful future.)

Roll of Honour

"Let those who come after see to it that their names are not forgotten ".

Allotments

The Hall has a limited number of allotments for hire. They are generally safe from rabbits. Please contact the Honorary Secretary for details.

Trees

The Playing Field borders the Aylburton Tree Conservation Area.

All tree management is conducted by suitable tree surgeons, outside of nesting (unless urgent after storm damage).

There is an aspiration to develop a limited Community Orchard, or increase biodiversity/heritage trees, however we are limited in what we can achieve by the number of volunteers.

Rabbit Management

The Playing Field sometimes needs rabbits to be controlled.

This is conducted by suitable control operatives.
